We were asked by Chelsea to photograph her Senior portraits in Downtown Asheville. She really wanted to emphasize the architecture of some of the buildings, and found certain buildings in Asheville to be amazingly detailed, and inspiring. The day we decided for the photoshoot was one of the coldest days of the winter. I was wearing gloves, and a beanie, and felt extremely bad for her poor bare hands and face. Nonetheless, her images turned out amazing.

Last week we were fortunate to book a fall family photoshoot at Sky Top Apple Orchard. We couldn't have asked for a better setting, better weather, or more perfect light.
The entire family was completely amazing. Everyone was laid-back, stress free, and tons of fun to work with. The kids were very well behaved, patient, and willing to take part in anything we requested. Reagen was by far the cutest little girl, with bright curly red hair, and a personality all her own.

Concept Photography:

JK Photography collaborated a creative session with a large family (Grandparents, Parents, and children), to shoot outdoor portraits in LaurelPark. We came up with two separate creative concepts for the little boys, seen below. The children, Noah &Dylan loved running around in the park playing with the tons of toys and props we brought along for this shoot. Baby Ella was a doll in her littleflower outfit and sleeping on the pink chair. We were even able to capture candid pictures while the boysplayed in the playground. We had a great time shooting with this family and we hope you enjoy the photos.

For the past few months Ihave been working with a local canvas printer to get some of my photos turned intocanvas. Recently he asked ifwe could do a commercial photoshoot with my sister Emily, who is interning with me thissummer, to be printed on canvas, having have her hold the canvas and a 5 x 7print to show that any prints can be turned into canvas. So, (in an attempt to be creative :), sincethese will be displayed in his shop and in an ad for The Big Guide, wedecided to go with a retro theme and take them at the local skate park. The clouds, colors ofthe board, and shirt really helped these photos to pop.

Project Deadlines...

I've been burning the midnight oil the last few nights trying to catch up on a few projects.

We just wrapped up shooting on a HUGE project for Park Ridge Hospital, photographing, and interviewing over 100 physicians for the launch of a new website. Editing all of this footage is my next big challenge...

Yesterday, after filming a memorial service, I met with the owners of UMI, a japanese sushi restaurant in Hendersonville, and discussed producing a full scale promotional video with a Friday deadline. (yes, this friday :o )

Did I mention the 3 portrait sessions also scheduled for this weekend...?!

Neadless to say, I will not be getting much rest or enjoying any free time for awhile...

Last weekend we had the opportunity to photograph family portraits in Hendersonville with Drs. Gretchen, Andy, little Meredith, and Claire.
The girls were thrilled to have their picture taken, and meredith being a little dancer already, was used to the spotlight and loving the extra attention.

We shot this photo session at the park with Jenny, Michael, and their super fun family a few weeks ago, and I'm just now getting around to posting them online. Their little boy was anxious to help out, and called himself my assistant throughout the morning. He also got a-hold of my wireless flash trigger, and played with it constantly, calling it lightning. :) This was one of the funnest photo-shoots in a while. Thanks guys for a awesome session.

Heidi & Matt | Engagement Session at Biltmore Estate

We had a great time working with with Heidi and Matt at the Biltmore Estate over the weekend. They were a bit camera shy at first, but very quickly opened up to allow us to capture some amazing images with them. They are a both fun-loving and happy people, who together make for a perfect couple.

Senior Portrait Session - Megan

We were scheduled for senior portraits with Megan Tuesday night, and almost called the shoot off due to the rain, wind, and overall bad weather. Fortunately, after an hour or so of debate, I decided to give Megan a last minute call and see if she was up for braving the bad weather. Being the trooper she is, she agreed to chance the cold air and storm clouds for some potentially amazing evening lighting. Needless to say, the weather held, and the evening shoot proved to be a huge collaborative success. Thank you Megan for your awesome willingness; Thank You Sonia (my wife) for you incredible helpfulness; and Thank you Matti for your never-a-dull-moment sense of humor....

These were old friends from Florida, whom I haven't seen in years. They informed me a few weeks ago that they would be in the mountains and would be wanting to do a photo session. Well, here they are!

Yesterday we did a creative session outdoor in the park with the Oh-So-Photogenic Elaina and her awesome family. We experienced the most amazing sunset. The sky was so beautiful and full of color. Afterward we met in the studio to capture some more great images. Thanks again guys.

Jump off rock

Valentine Couple's Sessions - x4

Over the weekend I shot 4 "Couple's Sessions" for Valentines. Each 1hr session consisted of at least two separate locations, and over 100 exposures.

All in all, it was a great experience. Everyone was extremely easy going and fun to work with.

So we received a pleasant surprise over the weekend. A Foot of Snow!

Aside from the fact that we were snowed in, things couldn't be better. Work was cancelled, friends were over, coffee was brewing, and most of all, it was snowing!
